Zlatan’s Career in Shirts

Over the weekend one of the game's biggest characters, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, called time on what has been an amazing and unforgettable career. Today we look at his career and some of the great kits he wore for club and country.

Malmo {99/00 Home Shirt}: Starting his career at his hometown club, Zlatan signed his first contract in 1996 and then went on to score 16 goals in 40 games for Malmö. He famously turned down a trial at Arsenal at 17, saying Zlatan does not do auditions.

Ajax {01/02 Away Shirt}: After moving to the Amsterdam giants, Zlatan found minutes hard to come by until Ronald Koeman came in as manager and the Swedish striker began to repay the faith put into him. Over his three seasons with Ajax, he scored 35 goals in 74 games.

Juventus {05/06 Home Shirt}: Zlatan headed to Serie A and spent two seasons with Juventus & after a great first year he struggled in his second season. Following the ‘Calciopoli Scandel’, he couldn’t be persuaded to stay at the club. He finished with 23 goals in 70 games.

Inter Milan {07/08 Away Shirt}: A move to the Serie A giants was relatively successful with Zlatan winning the Scudetto in the three seasons he played for I Nerazzuri and was the league’s top goalscorer in two of those. Before leaving in 2009 had scored 57 goals in 88 games.

Barcelona {09/10 Special Shirt}: Moving to Barca as part of a swap deal with Samuel Eto’o was meant to take Zlatan to the next level. Sadly this didn’t happen & his rocky relationship with Pep meant he only spent one season at the Nou Camp. He left with 16 goals in 29 games.

AC Milan {2021/22 Third Shirt}: Zlatan played a total of six seasons with Milan over two spells and scored 76 goals in 125 games. He helped the I Rossoneri secure their first Scudetto in 11 goals during the 21/22 season after returning to the club and it’s where he retired.

PSG {13/14 Away Shirt}: Zlatan moved to PSG in 2012 & over four seasons he won 4x Ligue 1 titles (including their first in 19 years), 2x Coupe de France, 3x Coupe de la France & 3x Trophée de Champions. He also became the club's top goalscorer with 113 goals in just 122 games.

Man Utd {16/17 Home Shirt}: Arriving on a free transfer in 2016, Zlatan became a crowd favourite at Old Trafford & helped the Red Devils lift the League Cup & Europa League in his first season with 17 goals. His two goals in the League Cup final really signified his cult status.

LA Galaxy {2021/22 Home Shirt}: Ibra then took his talents stateside and scored two goals on his debut in the inaugural ‘El Tráfico’ derby against LAFC. Although Zlatan failed to bring silverware to the club, he did score an impressive 52 goals in 56 games. You’re welcome LA!

Sweden {2002 Home Shirt}: Zlatan chose to play for Sweden over Bosnia & Herzegovina and Croatia and went on to become the nation's top goalscorer with 62 goals in 122 games. He played in two World Cups (2002 & 2006) and four European Championships (2004, 2008, 2012 & 2016).
