MANCHESTER UNITED
Manchester United, known as the Red Devils have won the most league titles of any English club (20) including 13 Premier League titles since its inception in 1992. Manchester United also completed the sought after Treble in 1999, winning the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League in the same season.
1892-93 Was the club’s first season in the First Division. Originally known as Newton Heath LYR Football Club, in 1902 the club was served with a winding up order for debts of £2000. Club captain, Harry Stafford seeked 4 businessmen to invest £500 each. These business men changed the clubs name to Manchester United in April 1902, also changing the clubs home colours from green and gold to red, white and black. United moved into their current stadium Old Trafford in 1910. Between the years of 1941 and 1949, United played their home games at Maine Road, home to rivals Manchester City, due to Old Trafford being damaged in WW2.
In 2019, Man United were worth £3.15bn, making them the 3rd most valuable club in World Football. Controversial owners, the Glazer family, listed United on the New York Stock Exchange from 2012. However they retain overall ownership of the club.
